The idea behind Scholars without Borders (SwB) is to highlight the best of Indian academic writing, and make it possible to obtain this material online. By “obtain” we mean both to get digital content where such content is available, as well as to be able to order online or via the phone when only the printed form is available. Our aim, quite simply, is to close the loop between the book and the reader, to make books available in places with poor access to bookstores but with mobile and internet connectivity. We list selected texts, monographs, reports, conference proceedings, journals and periodicals, and present a wide variety of publishers and cover a range of disciplines.
We hope, through SwB, to help alleviate the problem faced in accessing books and information about books in most parts of our country, and the difficulty in getting Indian books in most parts of the world. The scope and reach of the internet will, we hope, make it possible for people in the more remote parts of India and elsewhere to get our books easily.
We’re good listeners, so tell us what you feel we should list on our website… Tell us what you would like, what you need, and what you want.
